Arched Fireplace Screen for a Montecito Kitchen

The fireplace sits on the kitchen wall between the range and refrigeration, directly opposite a large stone island. Its shallow brick arch is part of the room's architecture, so a stock rectangular screen would have left awkward gaps and hidden the shape that made the opening distinctive.

The approved drawing records an overall width of roughly 53 1/2 inches, a height near 32 7/16 inches, and the radius required to follow the masonry. Those dimensions became the fabrication reference rather than an assumed nominal opening.

Two center-opening mesh panels provide access to the firebox. The continuous steel pull turns at the top and bottom, hiding magnets behind it so the doors close cleanly without a separate latch competing with the geometric face pattern.

D'Hierro revised the finish package to charcoal, fabricated the screen in Dallas, and shipped the protected assembly to California rather than treating the remote location as a reason to simplify the design.

Cecilia Tanoni Interiors documented the screen in place before the final grout application. A week after shipment, D.D. Ford Construction confirmed that the piece arrived in good order and fit the opening — the outcome the drawing and field-dimension process were built to secure.
