Drawn, then built
The drawing set the arch, the asymmetric grid and the depth before any steel was cut. The finished doors sit inside the brick opening they were measured for.

Before we draw it
Measure with the fire out and the firebox cool.
Across the top, the middle and the bottom of the opening.
At the left, the center and the right.
The diagonals tell us how square the opening is.

Ask for inset fireplace doors or an inset fireplace screen: a custom steel frame fitted to the opening, often with mesh or glass depending on the fireplace and the design.
Yes — inset screens and doors are made to the measured dimensions of your opening so they sit flush, not approximate.
Yes. For corner or two-sided fireplaces, we can draw an L-shaped or wraparound steel frame so the doors meet the architecture instead of looking like an afterthought.
Inset reads architectural and becomes part of the surround. Freestanding reads more like a movable decorative object. We can make both, but the strongest custom work is usually measured to the opening.
A fireplace door or screen can be finished to match doors, railings, lighting, or furniture elsewhere in the house so the hearth belongs to the same family.
Measure the opening with the fireplace off and cold: width at the top, middle and bottom, height at the left, center and right, depth, and both diagonals. Send the numbers exactly as you read them, with level, straight-on photos of the whole fireplace, the opening, the lintel and the inside of the firebox. We verify every dimension on site before anything is drawn for fabrication.
Sometimes. A factory-built fireplace has to follow its listing and the manufacturer’s instructions, and gasketed doors are limited to systems tested and listed for them, so send a photo of the label and the model number first. Required vents, controls and listed components are never covered.
